Sasha Ilyukevich & The Highly Skilled Migrants present their new single, "Kolya," on Kroogi!
Sasha Ilyukevich is one of few local Russian artists whose work is highly regarded abroad. His musical career began in London in 2007. The modest PR release of the demo-album "Woe From Wit" unexpectedly brought Sasha onto the scene, and into one of London's most famous clubs, "The Luminaire," where he met the future-members of "The Highly Skilled Migrants." Despite the fact that all songs are performed in Russian, the expressionism of Sasha Ilyukevich & The Highly Skilled Migrants is becoming more and more popular in the expanses of the Celtic Isles, where he is heralded as a "brew of Rock'N'Roll, Punk, and Folk music." In April, Snegiri released Petrov's new album, "Lady and Death."
The fate of each - the album, and Petrov seems amazing, more akin to a movie script.
Petrov's critics call this music "desperate, full of endless longing, fatal, hopeless," and nonetheless "haunting, charismatic, fundamentally imperfect and incomplete, making it especially beautiful."
It would be too taxing on the lexicon to add more. Just have a listen.
" I don't go around gloomy all day, complaining about how bad everything is," remarks Petrov -" It's just that this kind of music comes to me. I cannot even say that i am the author of these songs. Usually it happens - BAM! Something comes into my head, a channel turns on, the entire melody just comes through - along with an approximate content as to what the song should be about. I just toss in a little rhythm, dub, and even it out. I'm like a re-producer. It seems to me that all music, that exists in the world, was written by someone long before us - and everyone, if they wish, can connect to that channel and become a songwriter."

"Magellanic Cloud" released their second full-length album today.
It includes both new tracks (woohoo!) and singles that are already out on Kroogi.
Conveying their intent through the album's title, "Shuffle," the musicians emphasize that the songs can and should be listened to in a random order.
Take note; the Shuffle button on your respective music player is the correct way to begin listening to the album.
This is a unique way for the music creators to show us on which side of the "is a music album a single coherent unit?" debate they stand.
We are very pleased to release "Shuffle," - an album, which is from our point of view, a music work compiled in the most conceptual way possible.
The musicians await friends and fans at their album release party, May 19th, 20:00, at the Glastonberry Pub (club).
We'll see you there.

Quite a lot can be ogled & googled about Kate Gordon.
Her progression as a creative entity seems surprising. From scandalous journalism, to indie-rock, to (at-a-glance) the expression of authentic emotions. If the namesake of the new album is added to the vector of this progression, the sum result is an even more vivid and amazing picture.
Kate says "Tired of Being Afraid" is the first work wherein she can personally subscribe (and attest) to each note.

"I first heard the song "Flowers in the Garden" somewhere around 1055A.D., from the Norse mercenaries in Cordoba (not many people know that Peter Mamonov originally wrote the song in Old Norse, finally translating it into Russian during the early 1930s - while hiding from the political prosecution of "old believers" in the far North).
It is our pleasure to now bring this song to you, as a tribute of our respect and love for Peter's talent. "

The group Black Lukich first emerged in 1986 under the monicker "Cop Filet" (which at the time included Yegor Letov). Between 1989-1991 they released 4 albums under the monicker "Male Dance." The name "Black Lukich" first appeared in the late 1980s, but was officially used on the album «Fathers of Apples» (1993).
In the process of releasing of their record, "North Star" (2011) "Black Lukich" simply became "Lukich," which, according to the musicians, is consistent with the album's concept, the project's most soulful yet.
"I should have done it long ago. I'm not a gloomy person, nor do I make gloomy music, so the word 'Black' in our title was clearly extra," -says Dima "Lukich" Kuzmin.
As of today, we now have most of Black Luckich's official releases available for download and on-line listening.
The compilation "Crooked Knee" includes previously unreleased studio and live recordings. Enjoy.

Fedor Chistyakov ( fchistyakov) is the founder of the group "Zero," author of well-known songs such as "Person and Cat," "Coming, Smoking," "Song of the real Indian."
It just so happens that over the years I've received signals from the life of this person, and these signals did not pass idly by me. I liked his music in the 80s and early 90s; I felt akin to it; I felt that it was about me; I felt it understood me. This can be explained in part by the fact that we are peers, but it's much more than that. I moved to America - and while I was washing toilets, walking dogs and caring for old people, Fedor faced far more serious troubles, which for some reason I was aware of. I later learned that Fedor came into contact with the World of the Invisible, and had even established a relationship with it. It just so happens that over the years I've received signals from the life of this person, and these signals did not pass idly by me. I liked his music in the 80s and early 90s; I felt akin to it; I felt that it was about me; I felt it understood me. This can be explained in part by the fact that we are peers, but it's much more than that. I moved to America - and while I was washing toilets, walking dogs and caring for old people, Fedor faced far more serious troubles, which for some reason I was aware of. I later learned that Fedor came into contact with the World of the Invisible, and had even established a relationship with it. This was something that I deeply sympathized with - especially after I saw an interview wherein he, utilizing simple words and devoid of pathos, spoke of how it happened. The jubilee concert of Vyacheslav Butusov, held in Moscow’s “Crocus City Hall,” on October 20th of last year, was a memorable feast for admirers of his work. On the basis of recording the concert, members of the band "U-PITER" produced an album that fully conveys the musical splendor and enchanting atmosphere of the event. The album is called "10-PITER," and is dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the collective’s creative activity. This debut is “U-PITER’s” first official live album and first project that will be distributed only via Internet. The album releases March 1, 2012, here on Kroogi.com.

It's got a little bit of blues, a few pinches of rock, alternative, and folk music, and even a slight hint of waltz. The story of the single’s title track "Ready" is a long and scandalous one. First introduced back in 2009, BARTO’s "Ready" quickly became a fan favorite. But after the Pushkin Square events of August 2010 and the sociopolitical unrest that ensued, the rebellious track forced the band members into the political arena. And as Russian police officials searched high and low for proof of the existence of extremist messages, supposedly hidden in the track’s lyrics, "Ready" was on its way to becoming the opposition’s unofficial anthem.

Soon after Karenin's "Non-Stop" hit radio stations, the band’s fourth album is available here on Kroogi. The documentary is a home video montage by the underground producer from St.-Petersburg, Olga Mazhara, that gives the fans a chance to relive the band's controversial past and join them in the ambiguous present. The new documentary project earned great reviews, but if you want to decide for yourself and haven't had a chance to check it out yet, you can watch it on Barto's official site or youtube.

Zorge's self-titled new album is here as promised. What's special about this release (other than the fact that the music itself is very special) is that it took over 700 people, mostly Zorge's fans, to make it happen. Presenting new material on Kroogi has become a tradition for the legendary Russian rock band, Aquarium. The year went by fast, didn’t it? And once again, the New Year's Eve is upon us.
It’s good that there’s such a thing as the winter holidays. Had it not been for the holiday rush, I probably wouldn’t have noticed that another year is coming to an end.
But here I am, noticing. I'm looking at the clock, the calendar, the street outside ...
Alas, there's a new year. We reflect on the past from the tower of now, make new plans, conceive new dreams. We raise the bar up another notch. The child has grown another mark in the doorway.
Every year we seem to manage... Lol
Thank you, 2010. For the times. Thanks to all who tried to make the world a better place and those who really have. Supertango@Vinyl Participation Deadline Extended
As production and manufacturing of the Supertango LP from Megapolis kick into full gear in Berlin, the band plans the official Supertango@Vinyl release date: the LP will be presented at the Music Town club in Moscow on December 3, 2010.
Megapolis ( megapolismusic) chose to employ the Threshold Pledge System on Kroogi to help finance the making of the vinyl record. Now the award-winning musicians have decided to extend the participation deadline until December 3rd.
Participants are welcome to attend the release party in Moscow, where they will be presented with the Supertango LP.

I tried to figure out where the blue color in our new design came from.
It wasn't really anybody's idea. It simply appeared. Kroogi itself willed it to be.
But we really did want to add another color, in addition to the gray and orange. I actually thought we're going to go with green, and then... Ta-da!
Do you like it? Should we add a little pink?
I think the end result is beautiful. I particularly like the changes made to...

We've made a few more adjustments to our site.
Aside from fixing several bugs, the changes you'll notice right away occurred in the top menus:
1. "Profile" is now called "Home".
2. "Feed" and "Money" appear next to "Messages" and "Projects," at the very top of the page, where all private and personal menu options are now consolidated. Thus, the lower menu, appearing next to the avatar (Home-Hosts–Content–Followers), will only contain public information now, in most cases.

The final 12 tracks will be put onto a compilation that includes tracks from prominent artists Goatika Creative Lab and Alex Theory(also the album's producer), and promoted on the internet like any other release. Aquarium released their new album on Kroogi
The legend of Russian independent music Aquarium released their new album Pushkinskaya 10 on Kroogi simultaneously with the physical album release on October 13, 2009.
This is a second album released by Aquarium on Kroogi. Aquarium was the first one to adapt "Download and Donate" model with their album "White Horse" in December 2008.
